Flower Illustrations

Within this course, I was tasked with creating a scientific plate of an Australian native plant and a creative plate of my chosen plant. These two plates consisted of Leptospermum polygalifolium ‘Pageant’ - Tea Tree as my native plant and chose the Protea neriifolia - Narrow-leaf Sugarbush, respectively. Through this project, I learnt vital skills such as collecting and sketching plants in the field, observing plants accurately measuring plants through a microscope, and drying and preserving plants, which serve as a historical record and can be a vital source for researchers. My goal for this assessment was to show as much of my ‘creative flare’ whilst still being as accurate as possible per Natural History Illustration standards. Although this assessment's results are satisfactory, they heavily reflect the beginning of my Natural History Illustrative journey.
